Thanks for the mention! But what happened to all that amazing perennial planting? (https://thinkingardens.co.uk/articles/gold-at-the-olympic-park-by-bridget-rosewell/)

True, I didn't see any of the "meadows" referenced in that write-up! Then again, I didn't venture down to the south of the park, where the Olympic (now "London") stadium is situated. The park in general though is a greener and less concreted place than it was in 2012 - I believe they re-landscaped large sections to account for reduced/different footfall following the games.

Makes sense. I've never been back since I was at college in the wasteland it was before.

You wouldn’t recognise it! Worth a visit next time you’re in the big smoke.

I had mixed feelings about the Olympics at the time but I agree the park is fantastic - a great place for cycling and as you say, no shortage of good coffee shops. I like the extensive natural elements and that the buildings are mostly of a reasonable scale and architecturally interesting. It's a good blend. Also, the fact you can seamlessly get from the park to the River Lea towpath and up to Walthamstow marshes.

Yes, that connectivity via the park is great and very welcome. I hear you on the buildings too, especially those located within the park itself. My own internal jury is out on the European-style neighbourhoods that have emerged around the park, particularly to the East. I appreciate all the walking and breathing space, but it feels a little out of place, like it's been air-dropped in from the continent. Though having said, I do appreciate the "holiday" vibes that I feel when I visit.

Can’t wait to visit. It had not occurred to me that the Olympic park deserved a visit.
